The first season was capably hosted by Jonathan Ross, and the second and third seasons onwards have been hosted by
the Penn and Teller — Fool Us a Hostess Alyson Hannigan.
Each episode starts off with an introduction that explains the reason for the series. Penn & Teller come out and take their seats towards center stage, and eager magicians will perform their act in front of them with an audience in the studio. Following each show, Penn & Teller privately discuss the show while the host questions the magicians. Penn & Teller then reveal their knowledge of the method used to perform the trick, usually using cryptic words or by noting down the procedure and then present it to the magicians for confirmation, so that they are not divulging the secrets of the trick.

The 8 Silliest Penn & Teller – Fool Us Scenes
Fool Us was filmed at Fountain Studios in London, England (season one) and the Penn and Teller Theater at Las Vegas (season two onward). Following each show, when Penn & Teller cannot figure out how the trick was accomplished, the magician(s) that performed it are awarded the Fool Us trophy and a five-star flight to Las Vegas to perform as the opening act of Penn & Teller`s show, which is also held at The Rio Hotel & Casino.
The second season premiered on the
10th of October 2021.
Teller says that the doublespeak can help people learn new tricks without compromising the trick. If Penn & Teller are wrong or are unable to come up with how the trick was done, the magician will be awarded the Fool Us trophy and the opportunity to later perform at one of Penn & Teller`s Las Vegas shows. A backstage judge who is knowledgeable about the tricks of the magic industry and privately informed how the trick is performed ahead of the event, will make any necessary calls whether Penn & Teller were properly fooled. After each program, Penn & Teller perform an act of magic of their own.
The first season Jonathan Ross served as a temporary replacement for Penn and Teller`s hosting duties but they were back for the next season.
